2018 Annual Appeal Fund Drive

Help us cover the financial gap left by state funding

Annual Appeal Fund Drive

Living In Fulfilling Environments (L.I.F.E.), Inc. has been supporting Rhode Island's disabled community for more than thirty years. For the second year in a row, we have decided to pursue an annual appeal as our major fund-raising effort for 2018. Our goal, this year, is to raise $15,000.00 to help us close the funding gap not covered by individual allocations from the State of Rhode Island. Through federal and state funding we strive to offer our clients a fulfilling life with as much self-dependence as they are capable of. Historically, this has helped to provide the necessary basic necessities for each client, but unfortunately because of the rising prices of supplies and equipment, the funding that once covered the needs of our clients now falls short. Through fund-raising efforts like this, we are able to supply our clients with opportunities and materials they cannot otherwise afford.

Earlier this year, Governor Gina Raimondo proposed a record $18 MILLION reduction in funding for the disabled community in her forthcoming budget. A cut like this would have exasperated the current funding gap and left us in an even more dire situation. Thankfully though, with the help of Community Provider Network of Rhode Island (CPNRI), our statewide member network of human service agencies, we assembled in the rotunda of the Rhode Island Statehouse and showed how important the services we provide are and made our voices heard. In the end, we received the assurances necessary from the governor as well has the speaker of the house and Senate president that the funding would not be cut, after all. House Speaker Nicholas A. Mattiello said: “We have about $18 million in proposed cuts to the developmentally disabled community. I don’t want to speak for everybody, but I’m certainly going to strongly advocate for giving the money back and restoring it. I don’t think that’s an appropriate place to go for your cuts."

Now, we turn to our dedicated network of families, friends, and community members to close the remaining gap in state and federal funding we find ourselves in every year. Last year we set a funding goal of $10,000 through this Annual Appeal and ending up raining $14,865! Thank you to everyone who donated last year! Due to the overwhelming response in 2017, we have decided to set the higher goal of $15,000.With your help, we can meet our new, increased goal before the end of the year!

We ask you to take a moment and consider making a lasting gift to L.I.F.E. Inc.’s 2018 Annual Appeal. Your choice to contribute to the 2018 Annual Appeal impacts the agency’s ability to continue the worthwhile mission our founders set forth when L.I.F.E. Inc. was established. With your help, we can not only help fund our needs of today, but also help us plan for the future changes necessary to keep our agency viable as a service provider in the State of Rhode Island. As you consider what Living In Fulfilling Environments (L.I.F.E.), Inc. has done for you, your family, your community, and the people we are fortunate to support on a daily basis, consider the impact of making a gift to the 2018 Annual Appeal. In the past, we have been fortunate to have donors who contribute at the $100 level, or higher. Would you consider a gift at this level at this time?

Thank you for considering a gift to the 2018 Annual Appeal; together we can forge the future of L.I.F.E. Inc.
