Happy #GivingTuesday—the one day a year when generosity does a full-on victory dance across the globe through acts of financial giving to support organizations who make big differences in communities that need it the most.

And speaking of dancing...WE have some big moves to make today!

Here at LIFE, our Movement Movement (noun, verb) program has been making waves—and wiggles—all year long. From joyful movement classes to peaceful nature walks to adaptive fitness sessions that would make even your smartwatch proud, our participants have been discovering the fun, freedom, and confidence that movement brings.

We’ve seen huge smiles, boosted spirits, stronger bodies, and even better sleep—which we think deserves a standing ovation, or instead, maybe a little happy dance!

Now here’s where YOU come in—and don’t worry, we’re not asking you to run a marathon.

This #GivingTuesday, we’re aiming to raise $2,500, and every penny will go directly toward movement programs for our participants

A Global Day of Giving

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Created by the team at the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y—a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has been bringing people together around the values of service and giving back—#GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. A team of influencers and founding partners joined forces, collaborating across sectors, offering expertise and working tirelessly, to launch #GivingTuesday and have continued to shape, grow and strengthen the movement.

All Donations Go Directly to Our Clients

Every cent we raise through fund raising efforts like this goes toward providing services at our residential and day program locations, and those we assist through family supports. We are able to purchase necessary equipment, help clients pay for classes and social experiences, and provide them with worthwhile and necessary life experiences throughout the community, the state, and the country.

Unlike other charities and aid organizations, we never take a single cent raised to pay for expensive executive bonuses, furnish our offices, or sit unused in a bank account. With the money you donate, our team of experienced program directors and support coordinators look for opportunities to enrich the lives of everyone we support on a daily basis.

Donations Are Deductible on Your Taxes

LIFE Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. As so, all donations, both financial and in-kind, are fully tax-deductible for those that itemize their tax returns. After your donation is received, you will receive a letter of receipt from our agency within the calendar year stating where your donation was made and its value. The letter will also list our Federal Tax ID Number (EIN) which will be necessary to properly file for the deduction.

When it comes time to file your taxes, bring this letter of receipt with you to your tax preparer and they will help you claim your deduction. There are no limits to the number of donations you can claim in a calendar year, so give freely and often.
